Billie Lourd Makes First Public Appearance Since Carrie Fisher's Death
Billie Lourd, the only daughter of Carrie Fisher, made her first public appearance on day one of the Star Wars 40th Anniversary Celebration Panel. It was a day filled with surprises, laughter, and tears, largely in part from the Carrie Fisher tribute video. The fans were enraptured by the legendary guests: Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), and George Lucas. The panel shared memories and was more than willing when it came to expressing their affection for the fans.
The panel could not be complete without a tribute to The Princess. Members reminisced and expressed their own personal anecdotes. The emotional level peaked with a video homage to Carrie Fishier and a personal appearance by Billie Lourd who co-starred alongside her mother as Lt. Connix in Star Wars The Force Awakens. Ms. Lourd wore a custom designed dress that recalled Princess Leia's dress costume from A New Hope. She spoke of her mother's imperfections and her role as an icon of a strong female leader to so many young girls. And in a bid to wrench one last sob, one last tear, she recited Leia's monologue to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Read the entire transcript here.
