[Rumors] Is Disney Done With Star Wars?
Rumors abound about what film will come after Star Wars: Episode IX. Many believe it will be the anthology film, it is rumored to be an Obi-Wan Kenobi film. This is the hope of many, yet this hope may be unfounded.
Disney has released their film lineup through 2020 and the final Star Wars film listed on this lineup is Star Wars: Episode IX. The Han Solo standalone anthology film is set to release in May 25 of 2018. Episode IX is scheduled for some time in December 2019. After 2019, Star Wars does not appear on the schedule.
The disappearance from the film lineup may be nothing to grow to concerned about, as none of the films in 2020 currently have names. Though, it is odd that 2020 has two Pixar films, the traditional three Marvel films and another, but no Star Wars film.
It could just be too early in the production process for the announcement. It was assumed that this film would have been announced during Star Wars Celebration but this announcement never came. Hope still holds out that this film will be confirmed during D23, taking place this year in Anaheim from July 14-16.
In the past, D23 has been the place where, each year, Disney has announced upcoming films and changes to the franchise. Kathleen Kennedy has already hinted that we may have one or more Star Wars film announcements. With two months and some change to wait, theories will surely continue to float through the internet ether.
